2024 Texas UIL Football State Championship Recap

The Texas UIL State Championship games never seem to disappoint. From Wednesday to Saturday 3 games a day are played at the beautiful AT&T Stadium.

There is nothing like Texas High School Football!


6A Division I - North Crowley vs Austin Westlake

The hottest team in Texas all year capped off their magical season with a 50-21 victory over Austin Westlake. The Ray Gates led team was explosive on offense (640 total yards) and stingy on defense (155 yards passing). North Crowley Quarterback and North Texas commit Chris Jimmerson Jr led the 299 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air and 63 yards and a touchdown through the air. His favorite target was Colorado commit Quentin Gibson, who was named the Offensive MVP with 181 yards and 3 touchdowns receiving. "This mean everything to the city". Gibson

Running Backs Cornelius Warren III (223 yards and touchdown) and Daniel Bray (93 Total yards and 2 touchdowns) had big nights on the ground and out of the backfield receiving.

Sophomore Defensive Lineman Derrick Gleason was named the games Defensive MVP with 5 total tackles, tackle for loss, sack, and a forced fumble.


6A Division II - Southlake Carroll vs Austin Vandergrift

The Vandergrift Vipers won their first state title 24-17 victory over Southlake Carroll. The Vipers were led by junior Quarterback Miles Teodecki who took home the games Offensive MVP honors with 248 yards and 2 touchdowns passing. He threw touchdowns to George Farley (134 yards receiving) and Brendan Fournier, who led the ground game with 160 yards and a touchdown. The Vipers defensive was led by Defensive MVP Cornerback Scott Buchanan, who had 7 total tackles, 2 pass break up, and a fumble recovery.


5A Division I Smithson Valley vs Highland Park

Smithson Valley Head Football Coach Larry Hill, won his first state title after 32nd season at Smithson Valley with a 32-20 victory over Highland Park. Smithson Valley ATH Cade Spradling was a standout on both sides of the ball. He was named Offensive MVP with 147 yards and touchdown rushing, 61 yards and a touchdown through the air, and added 5 solo tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack on defense.

Running Back Brad Sowersby led the Rangers in rushing with 152 yards rushing and Julian Colunga was named Defensive MVP with a key pick 6 that swung the games momentum.


5A Division II - Richmond Randle vs Dallas South Oak Cliff

The Richmond Randle Lions won their first state championship in only their third season of varsity football with a 38-35 victory over Dallas SOC. The Lions won The victory was even more special for Randle Head Football Coach Brian Randle, because the school is named after his father Dr. Thomas E. Randle. Randle was led by sophomore Running Back Landen Williams-Callis, who took home the Offensive MVP with 101 yards and 1 touchdown rushing. Keilan Sweeny added a passing and a rushing touchdown to seal the victory. Randle special teams


had 2 kickoff returns by Sincere Timpson and Sean Smith Jr. Randle defense was led by Lineback Ryan Mallory, who had 12 total tackles and 2 sacks.

4A Division I - Celina vs Kilgore

The Celina Bobcats brought home their ninth state championship with a 55-21 over Kilgore. Celina was led by Quarterback Bowe Bentley, the games Offensive MVP. Bentley threw for 265 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bentley threw touchdowns to Colton Rodriguez, Ethan Rucker, and Wyatt Villarreal.

Linebacker Luke Biagini was the Defensive MVP with 9 total tackles, 05. tackles for loss, a 0.5 sack, and an interception.


4A Division II - Carthage vs Waco La Vega

The Carthage Bulldogs won their 10th state title with a 28-14 over Waco La Vega. Carthage was led by Running Back Kelwin Edwards, who was named the Offensive MVP. Edwards, had 188 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing. Quarterback Jett Surratt added 2 touchdowns through the air also. Defensive Lineman Daquives Beck was named the Defensive MVP with 10 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.

3A Division I - Columbus vs Malakoff

Columbus defeated Malakoff 48-14 to take home the 3A Div I title. Columbus was led by Quarterback Adam Schobel and Running Back Grayson Rigdon. TCU commit Schobel, was the games Offensive MVP, with 261 yard and 2 touchdowns passing and a rushing touchdown. Rigdon contributed 119 yards and 4 touchdowns rushing. Adam's cousin John Schobel was named Defensive MVP with 10 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.

3A Division II - Gunter vs Woodville

Gunter continued their dominance with a 28-0 victory over Woodville. Quarterback Preston Tarpley threw for 93 yard and 2 touchdowns to Cash Rumage and Cole Harpole. Rumage took home the Offensive MVP award with 2 catches for 71 yards and a touchdown. Defensive Lineman Hayden Farrell took home the Defensive MVP honors with 11 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.

2A Division I - Ganado vs Stamford

One of the best games of the weekend was the 3 overtime thriller between Ganado and Stamford. Ganado won on a Bryce Ullman to Austen Pena 2-point conversion to for the 2A Div I championship. Ganado was led by Ullman the games' Offensive MVP. Ullman had 172 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air and 48 yard and a touchdown rushing.

2A Division II - Muenster vs Shiner

Muenter and Shiner are familiar foes and the 36-29 score reflected it. Muenter pulled out the victory behind Quarterback Carson Schuette the Offensive MVP. Schuette has 2 touchdowns (rushing/passing) and Quincy Jones and Clayton Fric added rushing scores also. Garrett Hess the games Defensive MVP, led the defense with 8 total tackles.

1A Division 1 - Gordon vs Whiteface

The Gordon Longhorns defeated Whiteface 70-24 to take home the 1A Div I title. The longhorns were lead by Stryker (Offensive MVP) and Ry Reed (Defensive MVP). Stryker lead the offensive with 2 touchdown passes and 2 rushing scores. While Ry lead the defense with 8.5 tackles, and 3 rushing touchdowns.

1A Division II Jayton vs Oakwood

The Jayton Jaybirds kicked off the Texas UIL State Championships with a 54-8 victory. The Jaybirds were led by Quarterback Sean Stanaland (Offensive MVP) who had 2 touchdowns passing and 2 touchdowns rushing. The Defensive MVP was Colt Gentry with 6 total tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
